"I was shocked at how much beautiful, tender, everyday life was hiding in the mess of a hard year. Proof, sitting right there in my camera roll, that even inside a year of unknowns and anxiety, we were still living something worth holding onto."
In 2020, in the middle of the hardest year most of us had lived through, I sat down to make a family photo book. I thought there wouldn't be much to work with.
That's the thing I've been circling ever since. Beauty hides in the ordinary. The days you'd never call special are the ones you'd give anything to go back to. And most families don't need someone to capture new footage. They need someone to make sense of what they already have.
That's what a legacy film is. That's what I make.
